KAWASAKI, JAPAN – LexxPluss Inc. is pleased to announce that its CEO, Masaya Aso, has been appointed as a member of the “AI Robotics Study Group,” hosted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). This study group will identify and organize the various challenges related to the industrial structure transformation required for the future utilization of AI robotics, and will discuss the broad direction of a strategy to shape the future vision of the robotics industry. Leveraging the expertise gained from developing and providing autonomous mobile robots for the logistics and manufacturing sectors, LexxPluss will contribute to shaping the future vision of Japan’s robotics industry.
Japan is facing a critical phase in its economic growth, confronting a society with severe labor supply constraints due to structural and chronic labor shortages. While the use of robots is anticipated as a key solution, their adoption is currently limited to industries like automotive and electronics, and they are not yet widespread in broader fields such as construction, healthcare, retail, and logistics.
In recent years, advancements in AI technology have led to the rapid evolution of robotics, with the development of new humanoid robots and robots with enhanced autonomy progressing, particularly in the United States and China. In Japan, there is a pressing need to accelerate innovation through the fusion of AI and robotics, promote their introduction into new sectors, strengthen DX across all industries, and create new added value.
The “Basic Policy on Economic and Fiscal Management and Reform 2025” calls for the formulation of a strategy to expand the implementation of robots and enhance their competitiveness within fiscal year 2025. In line with this, the METI has established the “AI Robotics Study Group” to identify challenges related to the industrial transformation for AI robotics utilization and to discuss the strategic direction for shaping the future of the robotics industry.
With the mission “To build an autonomous industrial infrastructure,” LexxPluss is a startup dedicated to solving challenges in the logistics and manufacturing industries that support Japan’s core infrastructure. Combining AI and robotics technology, LexxPluss develops, manufactures, and sells robotics products that are building the next generation of industrial infrastructure, including the “Lexx500” autonomous mobile robot, the “LexxTug” towing attachment, and the “LexxFleet” robot integration control system.
